Hebrews 4:14-16 Devotional

“14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are–yet was without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

When I was in college I remember going to ask for help from a renowned professor. I thought I had legitimate questions but in his presence I felt looked down upon and that my questions were stupid. Later, I heard other students were made to feel this way as well. Thinking back I’m grateful for the experience if only to be able to compare the way man behaves and the way God is. Our God is so great and awesome and yet so humble as to immerse Himself in humanity and suffer with us. We are privileged. I am privileged. Let us then approach the throne with confidence and find mercy and grace in our time of need.
